Founded in 1992 by Mark Howards, 3D Shapes grew as a full product design and development firm including industrial design, mechanical engineering and analysis. Our name came from the complex 3-D modeling, machinable free-form surface geometry and 3-D tool designs we were creating even before reliable solid modeling based CAD tools existed.
Our goal was was to use surface modeling, solid modeling and finite element analysis to eliminate problems as designs evolved. We were an early adopter of plastics simulation with Graftek’s Simuflow and AC Technology’s C-MOLD products.
When Moldflow Corp. acquired AC Technology and their C-MOLD product, we became an original member of Moldflow’s Certified Consultant Network. In 2008 Autodesk acquired Moldflow Corp. Through experience and the rigorous certification process we became an Autodesk Certified Expert (Gold) Consultant in 2011.
In addition to conventional injection molding, we also have expertise with conformal cooling analysis, FEA and BEM cooling analysis, gas-assist, co-injection, reactive and other processes.
Our expertise includes a broad of knowledge of part design, tool design and process engineering through 100’s of analysis projects completed over 30 years.
